OUR HISTORY

In the – Beginning

The Late. Capt. Edwin U. birthed the Traunsee brand in Nigeria in 1991. His enterprise started as a Small craft operator and technical assistance company serving the oil and gas companies operating in the energy sector of the Gulf of Guinea. At that time these companies employed full-time technical personnel for operations and maintenance services. Only in exceptional cases was highly specialized work subcontracted.

Year 2014 – Integrated P&EO concept introduced

Following this success Traunsee formalized its Integrated Procurement & Engineering Operations (IPEO) concept, which became yet another innovation in outsourced contracting. Its ‘shared objectives’ contracting format allowed Traunsee’s clients to virtually exit day-to-day procurement and after services support operations while remaining in control of their assets’ performance.

Traunsee – Today

Traunsee’s unrelenting focus on its core activities and on the quality of its services has resulted in it becoming one of the largest companies specializing in Procurement and operations services and after support services for continuous-production plant in the oil & gas, marine and offshore, and fast-moving consumer goods industries.

Traunsee is well positioned to maintain its leading position thanks to its unmatched base of satisfied clients, its experience and expertise and its optimal employment of local resources. This combination ensures the provision of world-class sourcing, procurement and engineering operations plus, at the same time, the creation of good employee relations and local development.

Traunsee not only partners with international OEMs to serve national and international companies in Nigeria. Traunsee also employs local skills, expertise, professionals and presence in Nigeria (West Africa). With operational offices in Port Harcourt (the oil and gas capital of West Africa), Lagos (the commercial centre of west Africa), in Bauchi and in Canada.

Traunsee is a family, privately held company and has no plans to change this. Traunsee is affiliated with original equipment manufacturers and technical service providers. And uses its services as an outpost for OEMs and spare parts sales, upgrades and after service support.

Nigeria's Oil and Gas sector – recognizes the value of outsourcing

Oil and gas companies gradually realized that outsourcing would make them more flexible and enable them to operate more cost-effectively. An increasing number of functions, not considered business-critical, were outsourced. Through the Nigerian Local Content Act 2010, Section 41(2) states that "International or multinational companies working through their Nigerian subsidiaries shall demonstrate that a minimum of 50% of the equipment deployed for execution of work is owned by the Nigerian subsidiaries"

The above section of the Act implies that every International and multinational company, OEM in Nigeria must show that 50% of the equipment and resources intended to be used to operate or for a project in Nigeria is owned by their Nigerian subsidiaries who will apparently execute the project in collaboratively. The Local Content Act is one of the most successful economic policies of the Federal Government in recent times. It is important to note that the Local Content Act does not try or intend to bar foreigners from taking an interest in the Nigerian market, but subject to the fulfilment of conditions specified by the Act.
